Інтерфейсні плати Juniper представлені різними модулями, які сумісні з тією чи іншою серією (напр. інтерфейсний модуль MS-MIC-16G сумісний з усією лінійкою Juniper MX, а модуль MPC-3D-16XGE-SFPP сумісний із серією MX240, MX480 іMX960).
Інтерфейсна плата MIC (Modular Interface Cards) є модуль невеликого розміру, який забезпечує фізичне підключення до різних типів мережевих пристроїв. MIC плата може підтримувати різні фізичні інтерфейси в одному модулі. Модуля Juniper MICs також підтримують режим гарячої заміни і підключення. Наприклад, в маршрутизаторах MX серії, інтерфейсний модуль MIC встановлюється в модуль MPC (Modular Port Concentrator), а в серіях від MX5 до MX104 модуля MPC вже є вбудованими в шасі.
Інтерфейсний модуль Juniper MPC (Modular Port Concentrator) забезпечує послуги пересуваннялкі пакетів. Модуль MPC інкапсулює пакети та передає їх через вихідні інтерфейси модуля MIC. Кожен MPC модуль оснащений до чотирьох наборів мікросхем Junos Trio, який виконує функції керування. Наприклад, маршрутизатор Juniper MX960 підтримує встановлення до 12 модулів MPCs, а платформа MX480 до 3 MPCs. Інтерфейсні модулі DPC (Dense Port Concentrators) забезпечує кілька фізичних інтерфейсів і систем пересуваннялкі пакетів на одній платі, яка встановлюється у слот маршрутизатора або модульного шасі. Модуль DPC приймає вхідні пакети та відправляє вихідні пакети до мережі.
Модуля Juniper PIC (Physical Interface Card) встановлюються в FPC (Flexible PIC Concentrators), аналогічно тому, як працюють MIC іMPC модулі. PICs модуля забезпечують фізичні інтерфейси, а FPCs плати забезпечують пересуваннялку пакетів в мережі. Кожен FPCмодуль оснащений мікросхемою ASIC, яка виконує функції управління, та FPC підтримує встановлення 2-х модулів PIC.

Note: On MX960 routers, all the MPC slots can be occupied by MPC7E (Multi-Rate) at an ambient temperature of up to 40° C and at any altitude. All the MPC slots can be occupied by MPC7E (Multi-Rate) at temperatures of up to 55° C and at sea level. At an ambient temperature of 55° C and above, and at an altitude above sea level, slot 11 cannot host MPC7E (Multi-Rate).

Note: On MX240, MX480, and MX960 routers, MPC7E powers on only if the network-services mode on the router is configured as either enhanced-ip or enhanced-ethernet. On MX2000 router no additional configuration is required as by default the router operates in enhanced-ip mode.
